The tradition of St. Patrick?s Day began hundreds of years ago when a boy in Roman England was captured and taken to Ireland as a captive where he found God.
It is said that St. Patrick could hear from the angels, and that he had raised people from the dead.
He was a very active missionary throughout Ireland for 30 years, and that is why he is called the patron saint of Ireland.
There have been many legends attached to this saint, and they have lasted throughout the centuries.
This holiday began as a Holy Day in the Catholic Church, but over the years this religious Catholic saint?s day has turned into a more secular celebration of the upcoming new spring.
Here are a few facts for St. Patrick?s Day:
- March 17th, the day of celebration, is the day of Patrick?s death.
- St. Patrick, the patron saint of the Irish, was not from Ireland.
- Patrick was an old time missionary in Ireland during the 4th century.
- He brought many people to conversion and into the Christian religion.
- The Shamrock, symbol of St. Patrick?s Day, was a plant with three leaves that Patrick used to demonstrate to the pagans the trinity of God ? Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
- Maewyn is the name St. Patrick was born with.
His name was changed by the Bishop in a monastery in France, after he escaped his captivity.
He was not religious at all when he was a child.
- The first St. Paddy?s day parade in America was in 1737, 40 years before the Revolutionary War.
- The first day of spring is March 21st and this could be the reason St. Patrick?s Day celebrations have caught on so big.
- Everyone turns Irish for a day ? just wear green, the sign of life.
- Irish dishes include Corned beef and cabbage, Irish stew, Irish cream pie, Irish soda bread, scones, Irish cheese bread, and all of these would be a good choice on St. Patrick?s Day.
There are many traditions and legends that have been passed down through the generations, so even the barest of facts have gotten confused.
It is not even certain exactly when Patrick was born, the actual date varies about 30 years in early 300 AD but the day of his death is certain, March 17, and that is the important day.
So whether you are celebrating the life of a glorified Catholic saint or the oncoming spring and all the new growth and new life possibilities that a new life can encompass, it really doesn?t matter.
Wear something Green, grab a green hat, give someone a shamrock and join in the parade.
Good luck and Blessings are meant for all!

More Than Spring Break in Canc?n
More Than Spring Break in Canc?n
by: Jennifer Smith
For years vacationers have been drawn to the beautiful scenery that Canc?n has to offer. There is, after all, a reason why the Mexican government chose this coastal city to be its tourist flagship. Blue waters, white sands, and plenty of room for development meant that Canc?n was the perfect place to draw in visitors.
Image and Reality
Canc?n's popularity with American travelers ? meaning English is widely spoken and popular chain stores and restaurants can be found there ? and relatively low costs has helped it to become a haven for spring breakers, and has become better known as a party spot than the escape it was designed to be. Still, many vacationers looking for a resort location that is perfect for honeymoons or other peaceful getaways also consider Canc?n.
How can honeymooners mix with the out-all-night lifestyle Canc?n is becoming so well-known for? The simple answer is that...

Mink Coat Care
by: Daniel Sickafus
We recommend storing your Mink coat with a professional furrier in the Spring of each year.
While it's there, have the furrier condition, clean and glaze it, regardless of how often it was worn.
Keeping your mink coat at home over the Summer will reduce it's life.
Both normal and cedar closets are not suitable for storage unless they are equipped with proper air circulation, constant 50oF and 50% humidity to maintain valuable moisture. Also, the smell from the use of cedar and mothballs will adhere to fur, leathers and wool, creating lasting unpleasant odors.
The smell of both moth and cedar balls often adhere to Mink and other fur and creates unpleasant odors. Proper cleaning and annual conditioning will remove most odors.
While you have your Mink coat at home, allow your garment proper space in your closet. Never keep your valuable Mink coat in a plastic bag. Your fur requires...

Spring Is Around The Corner - How is your Garden?
Spring Is Around The Corner - How is your Garden?
by: Anita Johnston
Spring is in my opinion the most wonderful time of year for the gardener. You can shake of that winter weariness and get ready for a new gardening season.
The most difficult part of spring gardening is trying to manage your impatience. Don?t start digging around too early. The soil must be dry enough to have it fall apart when you pick it up. When it still sticks together like glue that?s definitely not the case.
Early spring is the best time of year to change (parts of) your garden design. You can transplant existing shrubs and perennial plants before they begin to leaf out. This also is the time to prune your trees and shrubs. Cut back the remaining dead foliage from last season and remove dead, damaged or diseased branches of trees and shrubs.
And then flowers! That?s really what spring is about isn?t it! There are many that are suitable for cool spring...

How To Save Your Fruit Tree Blossoms From A Spring Freeze
by: Steve Boulden
In most parts of the country it's still dead of Winter. However, in a few spots like here in the Desert Southwest, the warming weather starts to play tricks on Spring budding trees and plants. They think it's time to wake up when it's really not quite safe to.
In my own garden, I have an old Peach Tree that produces the most wonderful almost softball size peaches. And up until a few years ago, I rarely got the opportunity to see one make it past the blossom stage.
As sure as the first warm days would wake the old tree up in a display of absolute pink, so surely would a Springtime freeze bring it to an end.
But then one day a few Springs back..... I had a great idea.
It was a little overdue but still quite fortunate that I picked those first warm Spring days to take down and put up the Christmas lights. Because as I held those lights in my hands and...
